Just as movements such as equal suffrage made much progress back then, gay rights has made a similar kind of progress in the last decade over the opposition it has had. The new cartoon shows that gay rights has prevailed over the hatred and opposition it has received just as equal suffrage's progress "steamrolled" the opposition of its time.

The first cartoon shows progress being made by the entire suffrage movement. Despite the apparent progress being made, the second cartoon still shows the prosecution still shown towards gays. These cartoons seam to contradict each other.

While the first cartoon depicts the women's suffrage movement making significant progress crushing the opposition, the second cartoon shows how the gay rights movement is simply ignoring all the haters.

The first cartoon represents how women rallied together to over come the oppression they faced. This relates to the second carton where a different group of people, in this case the LGBT community, is coming together to fight for their rights and over come the oppression they face from the community around them.
